Serendipitous :: "Electric" water

While I was playing with water (see previous posting), I used a flash light to lit the area where I thought the waterdrop will fall - I also used my camera flash, and this is the result!

I have tried to take more picutes with this effect, without any luck!

What an interesting photo. I would not have realized that crystal shape in the middle to be a waterdrop, hadn't you told us. It is astonishing what you can do with photography.

@givethemhell: I think is was like a 'rainbow effect' - instead of the sun shining on water to get the colors, I think the two different light sources on the moving water created this effect?

I think it looks like a chemical reaction – two liquids reacting to form a gas. All the white in the foreground looks like a gas floating just above the surface. And that red…well the red is what drew me into the pic in the first place. Thanks for getting the creative juices flowing this morning!

Reading Ron's comment, I would like to ask you: "What is the red? Where does it come from? Is it part of the rainbow effect you achieved?" I find this most amazing. Anyhow, it is a beautiful photo, Ina. Congratulations!

@givethemhell: The red is the reflection of the container, the lighter part of the red is where I used my flashlight.
