Don't know the name of this bird - looks almost like an ostrich but the eyes are smaller and the neck a little shorter.
Edit: Thank you Mary! Mary has identified the bird as an Emu, which I googled and bingo! The Emu is the second-largest extant bird in the world by height, after its ratite relative, the ostrich. Emus can travel great distances at a fast, economical trot and, if necessary, can sprint at 50 km/h (30 mph) for some distance at a time.
Your visit and comment means a lot, thanks for stopping by :)
What an exotic bird. Do you have ostriches in South Africa?

@givethemhell: Yes! We have ostriches here, quite a 'big business' in George, Cape Province. I did capture a closeup of an ostrich too, will post it next week.

It has a rather ominous look. I wouldn't want to get too near its beak. Excellent detail and color.

What an adorable little fella, I'm pretty sure that it's an Emu, he has the characteristic wild eye look and the fluffy feathers :) A great capture Ina.

Very nice capture Ina. Great details. I like the expression!
Great shot. Brightening the eye with the Dodge tool in PS, could add some dramatic effect, and bring out the wild eyed look

@Graham Russon: Thanks for sharing your knowledge... I enjoy to try new things and will definately try what you suggested... it will be a first for me! Will let you know how it went... I've tried the "paste into" technique you taught me and it worked well - I battled with the UFO-house but tried it on another image. I took more photo's of the UFO house last week and will try again :)
Superb focus and lights! Nice composition!

Magnificent capture Ina. Great detail, I love the vibrant eye color. There was one locally that someone had in their yard. I took photos of it through the fence but it approached banging it's beak against my camera. Interesting birds.
