Wonderful! And he appears to be a little miffed and have something very important to say.

Just goes to show that for every ugly spot there is Beauty, WOW fantastic compo, love that rusted pipe and sprig of grass he's hanging on, what a beauty (the bird, not the pipe) ;)

@Lorraine: :)))
Wow! I love the way the bird is isolated! Excellent!

Beautiful how he stands, I like the branch with the green plant, gives something extra! - oh no, it's a rusted pipe but looks like a birch branch too.

Very intesresting photograph. I can't explain why exactly, but I really like this shot. The main image is superb, and there is just enough other detail to complement it. Lovely!

This is very nice. I like the way it is so uncluttered in the composition and then there is that nice little surprise of texture and color at the bottom.

A beauty! Well done.

Cute !! Bravo.

... and I forgot. I would say Cattle Egret (Adult nonbreeding). The small white heron would have a much heavier bill and a longer neck. Unless there is a specie I don't know in your area - which would be quite possible :o)

And look at it's pose, just for you, lucky girl!

Hello :) :) Me again. It could be a Intermediate Egret. A friend of mine went for a birding trip in South Africa last fall and took this picture : http://www.pbase.com/pbannon/image/90918098. Promess, it's my last message on this beautiful post ;o) Suzanne
Perfect shot (cropping, sharpness, lighting, bird) as always! Is this the nature you see when you're stepping right out of your door or do you make your photos in a zoo or park?

@MadScientist: Some of the more dangerous animals are from a Nature Reserve, but most of the birds are free in nature.
A magnificent capture Ina. I feel the pipe makes part of the image. I like how there are no other distractions from the bird. Very nice quote.

Beautiful capture! Love how it's taking a step.

So graceful. I have to be content with my local grey herons but the mannerisms, I know, are just the same. Beautiful and very intelligent birds.
